Visit the Whiskey Home of the World | Speyside
Speyside, Scotland is often called the home of whiskey as it is the most densely populated whiskey-producing region in the world, with over 50 distilleries within a stone’s throw of each other.
Speyside is home to some of Scotland’s most famous and iconic whiskey distilleries, including Glenfiddich, The Macallan, The Glenlivet, The Balvenie and Cardew, and Speyside single malt whiskey is renowned around the world. Speyside is located in the northeast of Scotland. Compared with Islay, another famous whiskey-producing area in Scotland, transportation is more convenient and requires taking a ferry or plane.
Although there is a popular Speyside Whiskey Trail, I did my own Speyside Distillery Tour, visiting the Speyside Distillery and Speyside Cooperage, and doing a tour of the Speyside Distilleries. Tour, and drank a lot of Speyside whiskey in the Speyside Hotel and Whiskey Bar in the process.
Join me on my Speyside Scotland travel adventure as I continue to learn more about Scotland’s national drink, whiskey!
