Spent Scotland’s longest, darkest night. One of the questions people ask me most is the change in daylight hours in Scotland.
Some countries don’t have such a difference in daylight hours between summer and winter, but in Scotland we have around 17 hours of darkness on the longest night of the year!
Compared to the shortest night of the year (June), the hours of darkness are only about 6 hours.
In this video I explore a beautiful corner of the countryside on a campervan road trip through southern Scotland on the longest night of the year.
I also experienced the sunrise at an important historical location during the winter solstice and shared with you what 17 hours of darkness felt like
